Our Philosophy
Start with the context, always
When leaders get up in the morning, they are not thinking about displaying “managerial courage” or showcasing “global perspective”. They are thinking of influencing a customer to buy their product or responding to investor queries or addressing a townhall. The context is therefore a set of activities that matter in the role.
Link context to competencies
For too long, leadership assessment has been based on competencies alone, devoid of their practical applications. When the context is well defined in terms of activities that a leader is supposed to perform, a prioritized, logical list of competencies can be derived.
Assess for maturity not familiarity
Humans get good at activities when they spend time on it – learning, practicing and finetuning their craft. Their competencies mature when they have persevered in the face of challenges and failures. The leader therefore must be assessed for maturity of thought, than merely the presence of knowledge.
